alhamdulillah another gathering at Amarin after the past 2 years. Thenxx a bunch korang for being such a good friends thru our thick n thin. lotsa things happened as we go along our days, but we were always there to listen, share n the scarriest amongst all...hasutan shopping! haha

Geng Lunch

Aida has made a special entry for all of us over here which somehow i feel it is important for me to share some of our special shot captured during few of our lunch outing together.

@ Little Taiwan Bangsar South taken few yrs back. The girl on your right is now specky-less ok as she has just undergone a lasik procedure with Prof Muhaya..glamer gitu :p

@ Amarin MV last yr. The girl on your left is now carrying her 5th child. Haaaa come again yg ke-lima???? haha cepat sape nk lawan sila sila angkat tangan! muahaha. The one in the pink tudung is the most senior among us, but she pretty looks just at about our range (oh jgn kembang ye kakak!)

@ Amarin MV last yr bersempena bonus yg baru keluar. Nothing new with these girls except those two in the middle are currently hooked up to the 'work-out and exercise' thingy akakaka. Sibuk betul update Run Keeper depa dekat watsapps every weekend :p Yg paling kiri now selalu sibuk susah nak bersua muka, yg paling kanan adalah adik paling bongsu dlm group ini.

Time lapar sorang pon bolayan and malas pandang kamera. Inilah tabiat buruk ahli geng lunch..time lapar jgn harap nak pandang kiri kanan!

i dont hv time to write a long entry, but i think the one that i love most about geng lunch is that we love to eat, whatapps and do online shopping. Especially shawls. shawls. and shawls.

Devils food chocolate cake - the step by step

Thought of sharing these 'simple' steps of the making of our favourite devils food choc cake. Before we take a peek on the steps, let's first hv a look on the normal recipe that i've been using all this while. There are actually quite a number of recipes or variations on the devils food cake, but i've been sticking to this recipe for quite some time :) The name of the devils cake is actually pretty much influenced by the moist and heavy texture of the cake, that comes with luscious chocolate ganache and cream cheese frosting to add to its sinfulness...hence the name 'devils' came into the picture haha :p

DEVIL’S FOOD CHOCOLATE CAKE – 7X7” (source: Rima of bisausatoi)

Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour
1/4 cup cocoa powder (i used valrhona)
3/4 tsp bicarbonate soda
1/4 tsp salt (i used 1/2 tsp)
1/2 cup granulated sugar - i reduce to 1/4 cup
1/2 cup brown sugar (i used light brown sugar) - i reduce to 1/4 cup
65 gram butter ( i used unsalted butter)
1 large egg - size A
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup buttermilk (i used fresh milk and added vinegar)
1/2 cup warm water


Methods
Preheat oven at 170C .. greased cake tin (i used 8".. next time i will use 7")
Sieve flour, cocoa powder, bicarbonate soda, salt, and set aside.
Beat butter with sugars until light and fluffy, add egg.
Add dry ingredients (flour, cocoa powder etc) alternately with liquid ingredients (buttermilk + warm water) in three portions
Add vanilla extract and continue to mix till well blended
Bake for about 30 minutes or until just cooked


Cream Cheese Frosting
250 g cream cheese (room temp)
125 g butter (room temp)
1 cup icing sugar - sifted
1 tsp vanilla extract
juice of a squeezed slice of lemon, to rid the cheese taste - i omitted

Beat cream cheese and butter, just until creamy, add the icing sugar, vanilla and lemon juice.

This is actually the steps taken to make the Russian Black n White Cake. You make stripes alternately between ganache n cream cheese frosting. But since i am just too lazy to follow the russian cake recipe, i've decided to follow the steps BUT was using the devils cake recipe :p

Cake filling is done! wahhh dah terliur time nih hihi. Next you put the second layer of the cake on top and cover the whole cake with cream cheese frosting. Then use the remaining ganache and pour onto the whole cake until it is completely covered. I then cut each sides of the cake to leave it bare, just to see whether my chequered black n white square menjadi ke tidak...and the result is as below....

Kurang menjadi!!! my conclusion is next time i have to make a thicker fillings to enable the chequered effect visible! haha

 

but nevertheless, this is good and scrumptious enough to be brought to our Raudhah gathering held at Ijah's house :)

Tadaaaaaaa! We had chicken and marinated lamb BBQ as the main course on that day. Thanks to Ijah as the host, also to all the participants for ur food contribution on that day. We surely had fun catching up with each other thru our endless mommies talk :p

Farra brought a moist n flavourful carrot cake for Mawaddah's birthday on that day :)

Ex-Raudhah in action! Huda-Ijah-Semah-Farra (bukan ahli raudhah tapi ahli geng lunch hehe)-myself. Some were missing on that day...but insya Allah we look fwd for another fruitful gathering very soon :)

Wanie's non-identical twins in action! Both are super-debab, si abang sgtla aktif, si kakak sgtla behave and managed to stay still on our hip without much movement :)

Apa pun alhamdulillah for the gathering. Hoping that our ukhuwah will remain forever amin....

Geng Lunch @ Salero Negeri Amcorp Mall

Another fulfilling lunch trip by Geng Lunch, this time we decided going to Amcorp. The twins n kak tie kinda expert wth everything about Amcorp..the layout, the food stall & even the shop that sells blouses as cheap as rm15! Dasat korang seh!!! As for me, i think this is my 3-4th visit here ever since i worked in menara...agak koman ok haha!

Back to our lunch, this restaurant serves masakan Padang/Minang's style. Quite an extensive range of lauk pauks to choose from..taste wise ok n sedap...well kalau x sedap takkan ade org sampai mintak nasi tambah kan :p

We had ayam goreng rempah, daging salai, keli goreng, lemak pucuk ubi, terung goreng cili, gulai urat ketin (erkkkk semah suke bangat nihh)..oso tapai aiskrim & sagu gula melaka for dessert.

The damage?? Ermm not sure exactly since it was Farra's treat tis time. ..pepe pon tq beb moga murah rezeki slalu!!

Lepas lunch sempat melilau ke 2 kedai. Semah berjaya menyambar tudung 'perth' while me farra & aini menyambar blouse 'perth' hehe cam poyos sumer beli sbb perth :p

So nx visit A&W plaks ok...ramai mommy2 yg mengidam waffle ice cream yg sedappp itu!! Opss dlm gambar ade 3 members yg missing...ade sorang tu bz pegi menempah baju raya :) haaa korang dah beli ker???

Amarin Thai

Ok i'm still not getting used with the new blogger settings and template. Terasa sgt lembab nak set the alignment and whatnots. Me and IT never has a good relationship all this while, ironically i am now doing IT-related commodites upon the recent realignment in my unit hoho.

Anyway we had a quick (yet big) lunch at Amarin last friday, to commemorate and celebrate the big B that we just had after all the hard works put thru last year. This time it was on Team 2, next it shall be Team 1 and Team 3's turn pulak. Wahhh we even set up several teams for this haha thanks to aida as tok ketua! I bet the twin, kak tie and zue were the most happiest person that day after the big purchase they made at Hab*b. Senyum lebar salesgirl kat situ haha

Basil Thai Nudle Bar, Bangsar Village - Geng Lunch's first official food review!!

We finally completed our first food review over here. What an accomplishment! haha

Overall, i satisfied with everything it has to offer, except that they're running out of 'daun kaduk' adusss it is that difficult to keep up a reasonable stock of daun kaduk in your kitchen??? But anyway since the waiter is good enough to replace it with salads (kakak2 yg kepoh mintak foc ok, kesian adik waiter itew!) i have no further complaint full stop.

meng kam, a must-to-order and highly recommended! except that it's quite pricey, RM15 per serving yer kakak2 sekalian...balik rumah sila gugel recipe how to make 'meng kam'!
Me as first timer mmg jatuh cinta pandang pertama with its taste. Rasa sgt healthy mkn daun tuh :)

the best tomyam i've ever taste, it comes with coconut milk (or maybe fresh milk), rasa complete n perfect. cukup masam, pedas, manis, masin, everything well-blended n mixed.
Farra siap hirup kuah sampai habis..the whole bowl mind ya...needs no further description kan!

we asked for kerabu mangga, tapi it wasnt offered in the menu. so here we go mango salad instead. Sedap!

green chicken curry, as proposed by Semah. Sedap! Tapi tak reti nak buat. Next time kalau semah buat open house, dia boleh include this as her main dish...kan semah kan!!

Pusat Sains Negara 6 Feb 2012

Pusat Sains Negara really rocks!!!
Rugi dulu tak pernah tahu (atau lebih tepat lagi...malas nak ambil tahu) kewujudan PSN nih.
Siapa yg belum pernah sampai, sila pergi ok. Sekarang tgh promo, free entrance until mid Feb (not sure the exact date tho). Tapi kalau nak tgk robot Android, kena bayar at a very minimal fee (kami tak tgk robot tu, dah flat-kepenatan-nak pengsan-mengantuk yg amats.. sumer ader!).

Oklah jom layan gambar. Mood bercerita agak kureng hari ini. Hope the pics and lil bit of explanation help :)

Oh sebelum tu, sila google dulu address PSN ni yer. My hb siap google map the night before, al maklum lah kami ni warga jati Kajang, jadi area Bukit Kiara, Bukit Damansara dan seangkatan dengannya agak kureng terer (tapi me KL-born girl, apekah???). Kalau setakat Ikea tu bolehlah ai terangkan dgn detail hihi. So nak dijadikan cerita, kami tersalah masuk simpang (now who's to be blamed google map ke diri sendiri yg tak arif nak baca google map haha), kena U-turn sikit, jalan straight sikit, dan akhirnya berjaya sampai ke PSN dengan jayanya! (sebelum tu sesat nak cari parking, mujur terserempak dgn kereta Sheeril).

Latest attraction at PSN, ade kids swimming pool u olsss hebat gitu! Some more it's free, triple hebat!! Jadi pengajaran buat Dayang dan Zue, lain kali silalah bawa baju spare utk mandi-manda bersama anak2 tercinta ahaksss

My eldest suke sgt main lompat atas tayar hitam tuh. Mama dia pon over mahu try jugak, tapi utk beberapa minit yg pertama masih terpaku atas tayar yang sama. Hati dan semangat masih belum kuat utk cuba lompat ke tayar seterusnya tskkk (sebab lain takut jatuh dlm air dan tudung basah, sebab kes tak bawak tudung spare hihi)

Yang berbaju hitam tu bukan saya. Tapi saya sempatlah mencuba satu lagi alat exercise dekat sini. Hebat kan, ade pool, ade alat exercise! Anak2 pergi mandi, mommy dan daddy pergi menyenamankan diri dan cuba sedaya upaya utk menyahkan serba sedikit kolesterol yg tidak diingini di dalam badan!

Ada small playland utk budak2. Dan paling best, ada banyak bangku tempat duduk utk picniking dan lepaking di sini. Jadi mommy dan daddy boleh buat small gathering, borak sakan tak hingat ala2 knowledge sharing session (bukan gossip tawww) sambil makan-makan!! (the part which i like most, sape setuju sila LIKE).

Ammar as usual blur2 bila mula-mula masuk air, dahlah sesema teruk time tuh...tapi dah sampai, mesti wajib rendam jugak kan :)

Opsss dia kencing atas mama dan hampir kena bangku tempat duduk kami! Mujur tak kena tikar :) Tapi no worries mommy, sebelah bangku tu ada air paip. Some more najis muhoffafah jer, tak susah nak bersihkan :)

Abang ngah ni kurus sgt, nak tolak Thomas ni pun tak larat. Mujur ada kakak PSN yg membantu :) Cuma sorang je boleh naik at one time.

Abang long bwk Ammar naik sekali..sepatutnya tak boleh, mujur kakak manis tu kasik.
